APPLE BLOSSOM INVITATIONAL$5,000,000*Forty-Fifth RunningTO BE RUN FRIDAY, APRIL 9, 2010NOMINATION REQUESTS TO BE INVITED CLOSE WEDNESDAY, MARCH 10, 2010 ONE MILE AND ONE-EIGHTHFILLIES AND MARES, FOUR YEARS OLD AND UPWARD. The owner of the winner to receive 50%, with 20% to second, 10% to third, 6% to fourth, 4% to fifth and 2% to the remaining starters. The Apple Blossom Invitational will be restricted to a field of ten starters.* Weight 123 lbs. Nomination requests to be invited close Wednesday, March 10 at $200.00 each. Those not invited will have their nomination fee refunded. Oaklawn Park will extend invitations to RACHEL ALEXANDRA, ZENYATTA and eight additional fillies and/or mares from the nomination list on Wednesday March 24. Pre-entry fee requirements – In order to be eligible for the Apple Blossom Invitational, horses accepting invitations must make a pre-entry payment of $5,000 no later than Friday, March 26 by 1:00pm CDT. If this payment is not made, the invitation shall be announced void and an alternate horse shall be selected by Oaklawn Park. Horses originally not invited, that accept an invitation from the nomination list, will be given two business days to accept the invitation and deposit the pre-entry fee from the time they are officially invited by Oaklawn Park. Horses invited on or after Wednesday, March 31 will be allowed to make the pre-entry fee at time of entries on Tuesday, April 6. Entry fee requirements – Entries for the Apple Blossom Invitational will close by 10:00am CDT, Tuesday, April 6. An entry fee of $5,000 will be due at the time of entry. (Fees are payable to Oaklawn Park). Refund of pre-entry or entry fees – Pre-entry and entry fees are non-refundable except in the event of sickness or disability as certified by the Oaklawn track veterinarian. This must be presented to Oaklawn Officials in writing. Oaklawn reserves the right to include additional invitees to the nomination list up until the closing time of entries. Starting fee is $10,000. A trophy will be presented to the winning owner. *In the event that RACHEL ALEXANDRA or ZENYATTA fails to start, the Apple Blossom Invitational will revert to its original status as of February 3, 2010, as described below, at a distance of One Mile and One–Eighth with all starters carrying 123 lbs. and a purse of $500,000 Guaranteed, of which 60% to the owner of the winner, 20% to second, 10% to third, 5% to fourth, 3% to fifth and 2% to be divided equally between remaining starters. Entry and Starting fees will revert to the original amounts of $3,500 and $5,000 respectively. Additionally, if RACHEL ALEXANDRA or ZENYATTA fails to enter, the reverting of the APPLE BLOSSOM will not limit the number of starters to ten and starting preference will be given to horses that have accumulated the highest earnings, excluding money won in restricted races. The following weight allowances will also apply: Weight 123 lbs. Non-winners of a Grade I Stake allowed 3 lbs.; non-winners of a Graded Stake allowed 6 lbs.
