Jockey Ricky Frazier

Although a native of Hot Springs, Ricky Frazier is a much traveled jockey.
The son of the former jockey and trainer Roy Frazier, Ricky remembers being at Oaklawn as a youth, his dad once having been a regular here.
“It all started here in Hot Springs where I attended St. John’s, SouthwestJunior High and graduated from Hot Springs High School.
He won three riding titles at Emerald Downs in Washington. He further added riding crowns at Hawthorne Race Course and Sportsman’s Park near Chicago, Sam Houston Park and Retama in Texas.His 157 winners at Emerald last year established a track record.His mounts additionally set a seasonal earnings standard.
He was recently honored by the Seattle Post-Intelligence as the 2007 Sports Star in the Pacific Northwest.
He posted career winner 3,000 last November at Turf Paradise in Phoenix.
Frazier has played a key role in a well-known film, serving as Toby Maguire’s stunt double in the movie Seabiscuit.Maguire played the jockey John “Red” Pollard, who often rode Seabiscuit.
